Having over 25 years of experience as a patent agent, Dennis has worked both as in-house corporate patent counsel for an Ottawa-based telecommunications company and for private firms in both Canada and the United States. In private practice, his experience has ranged from managing the patent departments of regional IP boutique firms in both Canada and the United States to serving as a U.S. practice specialist in Canada’s largest national law firm. Most recently, Dennis served as Senior Patent Counsel and Chief Information Officer of a cloud-based IP firm with a cross-border presence. Throughout his career, Dennis has used his expertise to build value in clients’ IP portfolios.

Dennis earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Ohio University. Prior to practicing as a patent agent, he began his career working as a USPTO Patent Examiner, where he developed knowledge of the patent system from the inside out. Dennis later earned his law degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. Since 1990, he has cumulatively examined, drafted and prosecuted more than 600 granted patents across a broad spectrum of technical processes, products and advanced technologies.

During his career, Dennis has advised clients in many facets of patent practice including IP management, electronics, business methods, biomedical devices, food science, telecom, and mechanical inventions.
