The Bio-Monitor™ wearable health monitor is now being used by the Canadian Space Agency to monitor astronauts’ vital signs aboard the International Space Station. Invented and produced by the Montreal-based company Hexoskin, the Bio-Monitor™ wearable health monitor combines multiple medical sensors into a “smart shirt” and records astronauts’ vital signs while exercising. This innovative garment can also be used on Earth to monitor the health of isolated individuals at risk of health problems. Like Canadarm2, the Bio-Monitor™ wearable health monitor represents Canada’s commitment to innovation and research in the aerospace industry.
